Power of Silence: Finding Stillness, is an non-fictional account of the research conducted by Sean Botha (PhD) between 2015 and 2020 in Sydney, Australia. The book explores the intersections between 'Silence', Sound, Music and Physics. These accounts begin in the South African Karoo and takes the reader up into space, the creation of music and the act of listening. Sean narrates personal moments during his research journey and how the answers he found pushed his work into the exploration of Physics, more specifically, Black Holes and String Theory.
Sean graduated in 2021 receiving his Doctorate in Music & Critical Analysis from Western Sydney University, Australia. This nonfictional account of his research years brings a fresh perspective on how we listen in our daily lives and the connection between creativity, the sciences and academic research approaches. Excerpts of his dissertation is included together with a comprehensive list of resources which provided the academic basis for the research project.
